INDIT (Institute for Independent Digital Research and Technology) was founded in 2012 as an independent, non-governmental and non-political project of Bulgarian independent internet entrepreneurs with irregular working hours from micro and small businesses, SEO experts, “geeks”, “nerds”, “hackers”, “internet gurus”, who work and earn from their activities.
Since 2012, INDIT has been organizing the Conference for Alternative Online Marketing – IndIT Black Hat and conducting the Annual Report on the State of the Independent Internet in Bulgaria. The Institute’s leading initiative is the project “Digital Heritage of Bulgaria” to preserve significant resources of the Bulgarian Internet.
Since the beginning of 2015, INDIT has launched the initiative “THE DIGITAL HERITAGE OF BULGARIA” – REGULAR MONITORING OF SIGNIFICANT BULGARIAN WEB RESOURCES, with two of the most significant projects being: “Paintings Database” – the most complete database of paintings by Bulgarian artists, scanned from the Bulgarian Internet, as well as the Digitization of all issues from 1985 to 1990 of the first Bulgarian computer magazine.
Since the end of 2024, the Institute for Independent Digital Research and Technology has launched an initiative INDEPENDENT site, which promotes our community.
Since the beginning of 2025, the INDIT Foundation has been established with registration under Bulgarian law.
